No Color

When God created life, He filled it with saturated colors that the human eye can gaze upon. From the blue sky to the green grass, God had a plan to fill the world with colors so that the things we see on a daily basis have a feeling and purpose. When the sun sets, the sky is an open canvas and creates different illusions and many colors that constantly mix together until the sky becomes the deepest of ebony black. So in a sense, it is a never ending cycle of colors changing everyday. To me, color photography is nice and is pleasing to a certain extent.  But when I can strip the color away, what am I left with?  There is a quote by Ted Grant and it really paints the perfect picture of what I do as a photographer.  He said,

“When you photograph people in color, you photograph their clothes.                            But when you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their souls.”

That is what photography is to me. I feel the person's presence and their spirit is unleashed when I shoot them in black and white.
